Authorized
and recommended vines in Liguria

Up to day there are 22 vine
varieties that are authorized
for production in Liguria, of which 12 white and 10 red.
Among these
only about ten are probably entirely autochthonous.

The
intense marine activity of the Ligurians and the continuous commercial
trades with other countries are to be considered as the basic factors
to the complexity of Ligurian wine production. It is estimated that
about 10.000 hectares of this region are dedicated to wine production.
Of this only about 8% belongs to the DOC (name and origin controlled)
production.
