Liguria is a small beautiful region on the Mediterranean Sea, a strip of land with nice fancy beaches and many hills covered with olive trees. Liguria has also beautiful mountains (Alta Via dei Monti Liguri) where you can spend enjoyable trekking. The coastline is divided into two Rivieras .. the Western Riviera or Riviera dei Fiori (Sanremo, Bordighera, Alassio) and the Eastern Riviera or Riviera di Levante hosting the famous Portofino, Santa Margherita and the magic Cinque Terre. Together with nice places to visit Liguria also offers the visitors a unique gastronomy. It is a land rich in culinary tradition, that was once known as "poor cuisine" because it derived from the use of few simple ingredients available in ancient times people of Liguria used what the soil and the sea gave them to prepare food.
